Belgium returns to THE park!

Enjoy over 130 kinds of Belgian Beer with music at one of the biggest is Belgian Beer Weekend. It has been added to UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list. 

The event is not only about beer, but also about great cuisine, amazing live music and a superb atmosphere. For the beer connoisseur a selection of unique beers will be available at ‘BBW Boutique’.

Belgium, a country the size of Shikoku and a population of 10 million, is the world’s beer paradise counting 160 breweries and 1,500 different beers. The ‘Belgian Beer Weekend’ traditionally takes place the first weekend of September at the world renowned ‘Grand Place’ in Brussels, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The event made its international debut in Tokyo in 2010 and has grown into a nation-wide happening travelling to 7 Japanese cities.

Kurofune Matsuri (Black Ship Festival)

Orginally named after the historical event of U.S. Commodore Matthew C. Perry landing in Shimoda with seven Black Ships (Kurofune) in 1854, to demand the opening of Japanese ports to foreign trade. It started in 1934 to bring together Japanese and American relationships.

Sanja Matsuri

This festival is on of the top "100 must go to festival"  and is one of the “3 great Shinto festivals in Tokyo” – along with the Kanda and Sanno festivals – and takes place on the third weekend of May.

Over 2 million spectators watch this rough festival that is full of energetic, mostly tattooed men bouncing the "Mikoshi" up and down.  Most Mikoshi Matsuri, you''ll see the bouncing of the heavy Mikoshi but during the Sanja Matsuri, fundoshi clad participants often ride on the top and will try to knock opponents off.

On Saturday, the main parade will start at the Asakusa Shrine around noon.

from 4 p.m.: Buyo (Japanese dance) on Kaguraden stage

from 2 p.m.: Miko (shrine maiden) dance on Kaguraden stage
