Kurofune Matsuri (Black Ship Festival)

Orginally named after the historical event of U.S. Commodore Matthew C. Perry landing in Shimoda with seven Black Ships (Kurofune) in 1854, to demand the opening of Japanese ports to foreign trade. It started in 1934 to bring together Japanese and American relationships.
