Orginally named after the historical event of U.S. Commodore Matthew C. Perry landing in Shimoda with seven Black Ships (Kurofune) in 1854, to demand the opening of Japanese ports to foreign trade. It started in 1934 to bring together Japanese and American relationships.
One of the largest annual music festival in Japan. It takes place both in Chiba and Osaka at the same time. Each place has several stages, some of them being indoors. The festival is very large so make sure you keep a mapy with you to get around. Bring a towel, sunscreen and plenty of water to drink during the hot weather.
